The Zeta Beta Lambda Chapter through fundraising activities in concert with Zeta Beta Lambda Foundation has provided hundreds of scholarships to deserving youth over the past four decades. It has become a proud tradition of the brothers, through its fundraising effort, to provide a beacon of hope for youth in their pursuit of higher education. The financial needs of deserving students continue to be great. It is an honor for the brotherhood to assist the children who are our future.

Partnership with the Sporgents

The Sporgents, a group of prominent Sacramento African American Men who, through the years provided community service and awarded scholarships to aspiring high school graduates. Through attrition its membership diminished. In 1988, the organization was dissolved and its assets transferred to the Sacramento Regional Foundation for the purpose of providing scholarships for black youth, male and female. The purpose of the scholarships is to aid our youth in pursuing their educational dreams beyond high school.

In 1996, the Sporgents designated Zeta Beta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc to be the organization to distribute funds, interest income from their investments, on a yearly basis to award deserving students. To date, more than $35,000 dollars have been awarded to high school graduates both male and female.

Zeta Beta Lambda Chapter is proud to distribute scholarship funds in the name of the Sporgents to deserving youth.

Ike Paggett Music Scholarship

Beginning in 2004, our Brother Ike Paggett, well known Music Director at Grant and Sacramento High Schools, and accomplished musician, arranger and performer, donated funds to the Zeta Beta Lambda Foundation for the purpose of awarding financial assistance to deserving graduating high school students pursing higher education in music. Zeta Beta Lambda is proud to offer this opportunity for aspiring college bound musicians, and will continue making awards as long as funds are available.

Rossa Y. Lang Memorial Scholarship

Zeta Beta Lambda is proud to administer memorial funds in the name of Rossa Y. Lang to deserving high school students. The scholarship will be awarded to students who not only serve as a role model for other students, but who have a vibrant personality, full of life, and a concern for the well-being of others. This education opportunity is designed to assist youth to pursue their educational dream and yet, be of service to mankind.
